「CRAZY」

Mac OSXにプリインストールされている“テキストエディット”は
簡単な書類の作成やちょっとしたメモ代わりに役立つアプリです。
そのアプリのアイコンが、これ。

何年も使い続けているのに気にも留めなかったこのアイコン。
いったいこのメモに何が書かれているのかご存知でしょうか？
答えは「アップル宣言　クレージーな人たちへ」

「アップル宣言」とはCMナレーションに使われたアップル社員による一編の詩

Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They invent. They imagine.They heal.
They explore. They create.They inspire.
They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
We make tools for these kinds of people.
While some see them as the crazy ones,we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to thinkthey can change the world, are the ones who do.

クレージーな人たちがいる。
厄介者、反逆者、トラブルメーカー、
四角い穴に丸い杭を打ち込むように
ものごとをまるで違った目で見る人たち。
彼らはルールを嫌い、現状を肯定しない。
反対する人も、賞賛する人も、けなす人もいる。
しかし、彼らを無視することは誰もできない。
なぜなら、彼らはものごとを変えたからだ。
彼らは発明し、思い描き、癒し、
冒険し、ものごとを造りだし、人々を駆り立てる。
彼らは人類を先へと押し進める。
確かにクレージーには違いない。
そうでなければどうやって真っ白なキャンバスに芸術作品を見いだせよう。
いったい誰が静寂の中にたたずんで、まだ書かれていない歌を聴くことができよう。
あるいは、赤い惑星をじっと見つめて車輪に乗った実験室を思い浮かべることができよう。
我々はこうした人々のための道具をつくる。
クレージーとしか見られない人々だが我々には天才が見える。
なぜなら、自分が世界を変えられると本気で信じる人たちこそが、世界を変えているのだから。
